What is “Rest Mode” on the PS5 and how do I activate it?

When you put the console on Rest Mode, it goes into a low-power state and you can resume gaming at anytime without having to restart the console. It puts the console to sleep without deactivating it so that it can start right away as soon as you are ready to play. While in rest mode, the PS5 still performs necessary functions like updating the firmware or, in this case, downloading the games.

PS5 Rest mode

To put your PS5 in sleep mode, just go to “Settings” , click on “System“, and scroll down to select “Power Saving“. Then, select “Features available in the rest mode” and make sure that the “Stay connected to the internet” option is enabled. But the work is not done yet. Next, you want to go back to “Settings” and select “Saved data and game/app settings“. From there, click on “Automatic Updates” and make sure that both the “Auto Download” and “Auto install in rest mode” options are enabled.

That’s it. You can now put the games on download, get away to your work, and when you come back, you’ll find the game ready to play.
